Website and Blog Launch

Welcome to my blog and to my website (http://www.barbarabettis.com/)

July has been an exciting month, working on both. Actually, I did very little work. Kimberly Killion of Hot Damn Designs took my fragmented ideas and came up with a site that absolutely fit what I wanted. If her name sounds familiar, Kim also is the award-winning author of wonderful Scottish medievals.

The new site and blog have launched just in time for RWA Nationals in Orlando. I'm thrilled that one of my roommates, Jennifer Jakes, is a Golden Heart finalist with her Western historical.

This will be my second national conference. The first was in 2007 in Dallas, about a month after I joined RWA. Was I clueless. I knew only one person there, the terrific historical author Emily Bryan. But I needn't have worried. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I learned so much from the experience, but the primary lesson--don't try to fit a session into every hour. How overwhelming that was. This year I'll know better.

If you're going, take a break during the day. Save time for yourself to relax, catch your breath. And if you see me, please say, 'Hi.'

Thank you for dropping by today. I hope you will visit the blog often and leave your opinions and ideas.
